FAN-tastic!!

The monthly average temperature in Aliso Viejo has been over 90 degrees, so we decided it was time for ceiling fans for our bedrooms. Even though it cools down at night it is so hard to sleep when it is that dam hot.

So here are the fans we bought....

...and here are the fans installed.

Master Bedroom fan.

Guest Room fan.

The fan that went into our master bedroom was suppose to be a 5 min fan, but I'm not sure how anyone can install a fan in 5 min. It took longer than that to get everything out of the box and un-wrapped every piece that was individually wrapped in plastic (non-earth friendly) wrapping. The cool thing about the 5 min fan are fan blades that snap into place so they are super easy to take off for cleaning, which is a major plus. Other than that I didn't see a major difference between the two fans. They took the same amount of time to install, about 30 min, the first one the "5 min fan" might have taken a little longer, but I think that was only because we didn't know what we were doing. My mom has asked Jeff to install two ceiling fans at her place so we'll see if we can perfect our time.

Stay cool!

Welcome!

Well the house warming went off with out a hitch. Just about everyone was able to make it, which means our house got croweded fast. I think we had about 30 to 40 friends come through. It was really good to see everyone! Thank you for all the beautiful gifts. We got a lot of flowers, which is exactly what our place needed! Here is a picture of tulips my friend Susie brought. They are the perfect addition to our dining room table. I wish I could keep them forever! Oh well, I will enjoy them while they last.

I have a lot of organizing to catch up on. After the party and a few house guests back to back I feel like I have fallen behind on my duties. This weekend I will play catch up on filing and cleaning the garage. I think it is time to put the snow boarding gear away for the summer.

This weekend Jeff and I are going to attempt to put up ceiling fans. The Master and Guestroom are already pre-wired and blocked to support the fans. These were options we choose while they were building. Jeff is a little nervous working with electricity, but I keep assuring him everything will be fine. Plus for his birthday my mom got him a "How to do" book. Now he has no excuses for not getting things done around the house, because he has a "hot to manual" for everything now. I think it will come in handy!

Another thing we might try and tackle this weekend, is test driving a few more cars. We are back on the search. I would really like to get my car sold before buying a new one, but we'll see what happens. Anyone looking for a convertible? White VW Cabrio 1998 FOR SALE!

Thanks to everyone who could make it to the housewarming. Jeff and I really enjoyed having you.

April came and went...

The time has gotten away from me and I haven't been keeping up on posting. I'm more motivated to read other blogs than to write in my own.

Let me re-wind to April 18th (Friday). That is when I picked my 4 girlfriends up from the airport for a fun and exciting weekend at my place. I had a list of potential fun activities that would get us all out of the house, but it is funny how after an exhausting week at work all you want to do is relax. So that is exactly what we did all weekend. We had good intentions of getting out but we enjoyed our time together indoors. We turned my house into a beauty shop, a BBQ/restaurant, and then back into a beauty shop.

Let me explain...

(Saturday) Our dear friend Jordana came with blonde hair and we all decided she would look great as a burnett. When we were in college she often dyed her hair red or brown, so we knew what it she looked like with darker hair. So needles to say we hit the beauty supply store for some hair dye to fix her up. After about 1 hour of deliberating over exactly what undertone (red or coco brown) we bought some dye, headed home and started the beauty shop in our kitchen. We took some great pictures but unfortunately I don't have any of them and I will once again have to update with pictures later.

After the beauty shop we started dinner. We had delicious hamburgers and hot dogs. Jordana and Stephanie made some zucchini to put on the BBQ, as well as pepper and mushroom kabobs. It was so fun to have everyone in the kitchen cooking and having fun.

The next day (Sunday) Jordana wasn't digging her new hair color, and to be honest it sure didn't come out the color we all expected it to. Instead of reddish undertones her hair was kinda pinky, gray, blonde. So off to the beauty supply store we went. This time we went darker to make sure it wouldn't turn pink again. I think since her hair was so light to begin with the first dye didn't take as well. I wish I had the pictures because her hair come out absolutely beautiful. It was exactly what we all pictured.

So, all and all, our Girly Weekend wasn't as eventful as I expected, but it was great to have all my girlfriends together to relax and have fun. I love my girls!

The following Tuesday, Jeff's friend Trevor came in from Ohio. It had been 2 1/2 years since Trevor had been to California so we had to hit all the Ca. Local food joints starting with Inn-N-Out, which is just where Jeff and Trevor went after the airport. I unfortunately was getting sick with the stomach flu so I didn't join them. I ended up coming down with a 102 fever and left work a few hours early. The next couple of days I felt crappy, but I didn't want it to get in the way of having fun and showing Trevor around.

Wednesday, the boys went hiking in Laguna and at one point were chased by bees, and I had one more day of work becuase I took Thursday and Friday off so I would be able to partake in showing Trevor around.

Thursday we went to Six Flags Magic Mt. Since it was a weekday it was so dead. I think the longest we waited in line was an hour. We rode our favorite coasters that were operating, and some even twice. Unfortunately X-2 wasn't running due to renovations, which means Jeff and I will have to go back in the middle of May to ride the new X-2.

Thursday night after Six Flags we went out to Lucille's Memphis BBQ, which is Jeff's favorite place to eat out. I think it won Trevor over with the mouth watering Tri-Tip. I still wasn't feeling great so I ate light.

Friday we mostly hung out at home and threw some steaks on the BBQ.

Saturday at 3am we set off for Mammoth, which is a 5 hour drive from our house. Trevor had never been snowboarding and Jeff and I were determined to make him a pro. We started by walking up the bunny hill and having him go down the hill as we walked infront of him. We did this for couple of hours and then grabbed some lunch and rode the gondola to the top at 11,053 feet. From there Jeff boarded down to the bottom and Trevor and I took the gondola down. Trevor gets extremely motion sick and he almost lost it while we were in the gondola. If he would have thrown up I probably would have too, so I'm glad he was able to keep together. After the exciting ride in the gondola Trevor needed a few minutes to settle his stomach.

Once Trevor regained his strength we took him up on the lift for his first time. Even though he was pretty nervous about falling he did great. I think he went all the way down the bunny hill about 4 times and every time he got better and better. The last run he even made it without falling. By this time Trevor was getting really tired from falling and picking himself up so he called it a day, and Jeff and I took a few runs by ouselves. Although the snow wasn't the greatest, keep in mind it was the end of April, it was better than I expected and the snow coverage was better now than it was in December.

Sunday was a lazy day. We got home about 10:30pm the night before, so we had a very long day with 10 hours of driving (most of which I slept) and 7 or so of snowboarding.

Trevor left Monday morning and I think his trip was fulfilled with exciting adventures. We hope he doesn't wait another 2 1/2 years to come back.
